چکیده

Many victims of The Great East Japan Earthquake lost many precious mementos. Such loses can result in more time being required to recover emotionally and mentally. This paper proposes an effective reminder management system using smell. The system focuses on fond memory recollection. Preliminary experiments using a device that produces smell showed that it was effective to help recall fond memories by smell. This system encourages us to remember fond memories using smell, record the smells into a system and communicates with people who have similar experience.

Communication Support System Between Persons with Dementia and Family Caregivers using Memories

Persons with dementia have lost important memories, and their caregivers are exhausted by caring for them, especially family caregivers. We aim to support persons with dementia recall memory by talking about their memories together, place them in their life history, and communicate with their caregivers. The proposed system uses photographs as triggers for memory recollection. The demonstration...

A Hippocampal Model of Recognition Memory

A rich body of data exists showing that recollection of specific information makes an important contribution to recognition memory, which is distinct from the contribution of familiarity, and is not adequately captured by existing unitary memory models. Furthermore, neuropsychological evidence indicates that recollection is subserved by the hippocampus. We present a model, based largely on know...

Dissociable correlates of recollection and familiarity within the medial temporal lobes.

Regions in the medial temporal lobes (MTL) have long been implicated in the formation of new memories for events, however, it is unclear whether different MTL subregions support different memory processes. Here, we used event-related functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to examine the degree to which two recognition memory processes-recollection and familiarity-were supported by differe...

Functional-neuroanatomic correlates of recollection: implications for models of recognition memory.

Recognition decisions can be based on familiarity, the sense that an item was encountered previously (item memory), and on recollection, the conscious recovery of contextual information surrounding a previous encounter with the item (e.g., source memory). Recognition with recollection is thought to depend on multiple mechanisms, including prefrontal "control" processes that guide retrieval and ...

Dissociation of the neural correlates of recognition memory according to familiarity, recollection, and amount of recollected information.

The present experiment used fMRI to investigate whether neural correlates of recognition memory behave in a manner consistent with the proposal that recognition decisions are based on a unidimensional memory strength variable. A modified Remember/Know recognition test was used in which participants could indicate two levels of recollection. Participants were required to indicate whether a test ...
